One of the weaknesses of this tablet is its operating system, which the factory is 2.3 and with the recent update is 2.3.4, but the fact that this phone and not designed for tablets greatly affects their performance and enjoyment.

For several months it was rumored that Lenovo would take for this Tablet Android ICS, which was half true, since a few weeks ago a leaked beta rom for this version of android and last a few days ago was released the final version Android ICS for lenovo 4.0.4 A1.

The update has been released by lenovo but you can install it manually without root and above all without losing the warranty.

How to install android on our lenovo 4.0.4 A1?

We need:
  • USB Cable
  • Tablet Lenovo A1 obviously with a minimum load of at least 70%.
  • A micro SD memory of at least 1 GB.
  • A USB / SD Micro SD (to move files directly from PC to the micro SD).

Procedure:
Step 1: Download the beta version of Android for the IdeaPad ICS A1 here (The file is called "ISC1.2").

Step 2: Rename the file downloaded and "ISC1.2.zip" to "update.zip".

Step 3: we format the micro SD in "Fat 32" and add the file you downloaded in previous step and called "update.zip".

Step 4: We turned off the tablet and I insert the micro SD.

Step 5: Now with the SD in the Tablet proceed to turn into recovery mode (Recovery system e3) for this we must hold the power button and the button (-) "less volume" for 30 seconds

You will see a green robot logo next to a signaling android with an exclamation point and a loading bar underneath. Once the bar will complete an "!" In green and restart the Tablet, this may take a few minutes.

Step 6: Once I have rebooted the Tablet and android ICS in beta, is quite stable, but did not show the same information (battery status, model, serial number. "

Step 7: Finally we go to Settings> About the Tablet> System Updates or "system update", we touch here and we will see a update is available, accept the update and let you download, asked us if we install it on the time and press that if we expect to be installed, restart the Tablet and ready and we android 4.0.4 for the Lenovo IdeaPad A1 officially and without losing the warranty.

This does not work. I loaded the update, but it turned off only after a few seconds. I rebooted, but am still running gingerbread (2.3.4). Is this a joke??

The uploaded file is broken. The proper ISC1.2 file is 241MB large. This one is only 125KB.

Hi, Ive successfully installed ICS on my A1, but the font is small and the resolution is abit off, go launcher doesn't look as nice as before. Is there a way to downgrade back to 2.3.4? Thanks!
